Apparently named after a 15th century outlaw, Poole's Cavern is an impressive show cave at Buxton in the Derbyshire Peak District.
Visitors enter the cave beneath a natural archway at the foot of a limestone cliff (pictured above).
Inside the cave there are some very fine formations, including stalactites and stalagmites, flowstones and gour pools etc.
The route through the cave follows a very roomy active stream passageway (pictured above), but the stream (which is actually the infant River Wye) sinks in to the floor before reaching the entrance, to eventually emerge further down the hillside in Buxton.
The cave has been open to the public for centuries, and is believed to have been visited by Mary Queen of Scots.
