Kettleness is an impressive headland which juts out in to the North Sea just south of Runswick Bay on the Yorkshire Coast.
The headland has been much modified by alum quarrying, and is famous for fossils (including that of a "Pliosaur" - an extinct marine reptile) which have been found in the coastal eroded Jurassic rock here.
Kettleness is also mentioned in Bram Stoker's Dracula (being visible from Whitby - where much of the story is set)..
