Dovedale is a deep valley in the limestone hills which lie to the west of Ashbourne in the "White Peak" area of the Derbyshire Peak District.
A pleasant walk runs upstream along the dale from between the villages of Ilam and Thorpe, crossing stepping stones over the River Dove at a popular picnic spot (pictured above) and passing by caves such as Dove Holes and the limestone outcrops of the Tissington Spires.
