The Esk Valley cuts through the northern side of the North York Moors, meeting the sea at Whitby on the Yorkshire Coast.
Villages in the Esk Valley include Castleton, Danby, Lealholm, Egton Bridge, Grosmont and Sleights.
Tributary valleys include Kildale, Baysdale, Westerdale, Great Fryup Dale, Little Fryup Dale and Glaisdale.
