Although being about as far from the Bronte Country area of the West Yorkshire and East Lancashire Pennines on the mainland to the south and west as you could get, the fishing port of Penzance in Cornwall has connections with the Brontes.
Maria Branwell, who married Patrick and became mother to the famous Bronte siblings was from the town, as was her sister Elizabeth, who moved to Thornton (temporarily) and Haworth (permanently) to help look after the children following the death of Maria in 1821.
